Burude Falls

ಜಲಪಾತಗಳ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಎಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತವಾದದ್ದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ. ಈ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಪುರ ತಾಲುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬುರುಡೆ ಜೋಗ ನಿಸರ್ಗದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಸುಂದರ ಜಲಪಾತ. ತಳಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಇದರ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಅದ್ಭುತ. ಸುಮಾರು 90 ಮೀ. ಎತ್ತರದಿಂದ ಧುಮುಕುವ ಈ ಜಲಪಾತದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಸವಿಯಲು ನಮ್ಮ ತಲೆ ಬುರುಡೆಯನ್ನು ಆ ಕಡೆ ಈ ಕಡೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ ನೋಡಲೇಬೇಕು !

ದಟ್ಟ ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ಫಾಲ್ಸ್ ತನ್ನ ಮೋಹಕ ಚೆಲುವಿನಿಂದ ನೋಡುಗರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಳ್ಳಿಮನೆ ಹೊಳೆಯಿಂದ ಹರಿದು ಬಂದ ನೀರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಧುಮ್ಮಿಕ್ಕಿ ನಂತರ ಅಘನಾಶಿನಿ ನದಿ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರಕತಿಯಿಂದ ನಿರ್ಮಿತಗೊಂಡ ಈ ಫಾಲ್ಸ್ ನೋಡಲು ನವಂಬರ್‌ನಿಂದ ಮೇ ವರೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಾಧ್ಯ.

ಬುದಗಿತ್ತಿ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ಮುಂದೆ ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಕಿರಿದಾದ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮರ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತ ಕಲ್ಲು ಬಂಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಜಾರುತ್ತ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು. ತಳಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿಯುವುದೇ ತಡ, ಅದರ ಮೋಹಕತೆ, ನೀರಿನ ರಭಸ, ಆ ತಂಪಾದ ವಾತಾವರಣ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಟ್ಟ ಕಷ್ಟವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಮರೆಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದ ರಸದೌತಣ ನೀಡುವ ಈ ಫಾಲ್ಸ್ ತುಂಬ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ ಕೂಡ. ಬಂಡೆಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕೆ ತಪ್ಪಿದರೆ ಸಾಕು ಅಪಾಯ ಕಟ್ಟಿಟ್ಟ ಬುತ್ತಿ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈಜಾಡುವದು ತುಂಬಾ ರಿಸ್ಕಿ. ಕೆಲವರು ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಅಪಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ತುತ್ತಾದರೆ ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವು ಮಂದಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಬಚವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಫಾಲ್ಸ್‌ನ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಸವಿಯುವುದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯ. ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಎದುರಾಗುವ ಇಳ್ಳಿಮನೆ ಹೊಳೆಗೆ ಬ್ರಿಜ್ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಬಂಡೆಗಳು ತುಂಬಾ ಜಾರುತ್ತವೆ. ಉಂಬಳದ ಕಾಟ ಬೇರೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಭೋರ್ಗರೆಯುವ ಶಬ್ದ ಕೇಳಬಹುದೇ ಹೊರತು ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಹರಸಾಹಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.

ಊಟ-ತಿಂಡಿ ದೊರಕುವ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಪುರದಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬೇಕಾದದ್ದು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ. ಪುನಃ ಸಿದ್ಧ್ದಾಪುರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು 21 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಸಾಗಿದರೆ ವಿಶ್ವವಿಖ್ಯಾತ ಜೋಗ್ ಜಲಪಾತ ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ಸಿದ್ಧಾಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಇರುವ ಉಂಚಳ್ಳಿ ಫಾಲ್ಸ್‌ನ್ನೂ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಬಹುದು.

ಸಿದ್ಧಾಪುರದಿಂದ 28 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಸಿದ್ಧಾಪುರ-ಕುಮಟಾ ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಅಳ್ಳಿಮಕ್ಕಿ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಬದಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸುಮಾರು 3 ಕಿ.ಮೀ., ಬುದಗಿತ್ತಿ ಎಂಬ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಸ್ವಂತ ವಾಹನವಿದ್ದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಹೋಗಬಹುದು.

Burude Falls is 28 Kms from Siddapura. On the way to Kumta from Siddapur, you will find village Allimakki  and take a walk for 3-5 kms to reach the waterfall.

Abbey Falls

Abbey Falls (also spelled Abbi Falls and Abbe Falls) (Kannada: ಅಬ್ಬೆ ಜಲಪಾತ / ಅಬ್ಬೆ ಫಾಲ್ಸ್) is inKodagu, in the Western Ghats in Karnataka, India. It is located 8 km from the town of Madikeri and 268 km from Bangalore.

In the mountains of the Western Ghats, several streams combine, swelling with the monsoon rains and plunging down the mountain slope at enormous speed, hitting the huge boulders hard and forcing through the crevices and ravines. A misty cloud hangs over the falls. From here the water flows into the Kaveri River. During the monsoon season the water flow is very high. During the dry seasons the flow is considerably diminished.One can find a lot of leeches inside the water.

The waterfall is located between private coffee plantations with stocky coffee bushes and spice estates with trees entwined with pepper vines. The falls appear suddenly, the water cascading over rocks into calm pools. A hanging bridge constructed just opposite the falls comes in handy for the Tourists. There is a Kali Mata temple on the other side of the bridge and Coffee and Black Pepper.

Madikeri is 250 km from Bangalore and 90 km from nearest airport in Mangalore.

From Madikeri the falls are accessible by a narrow road to the coffee estate. A path through coffee and cardamom plantations leads to the waterfalls. The roar of the falls can be heard from the road. The best time to visit is early winter when the monsoons have brought plenty of water.
